When Susie finds out the Secret Seven's password, the friends are forced to call a meeting, where they decide to make their club more exciting by practising their detective skills. They all go in to town, and split up to shadow people in the streets and write down their descriptions. Unfortunately, George has a spot of bad luck. Trailing a man to his home one night, he is caught and dragged home to his parents, who force him to resign from the Secret Seven! The gang elect Scamper the spaniel as a temporary member, and carry on with their shadowing activities. Soon they are glad of his protection, for they find themselves in the midst of a dangerous adventure.
